Application Endpoint Discovery

API Description
Use Cases

Network operators deploy edge computing zones in their networks to bring content and compute closer to user’s connected devices. This can reduce latency, jitter and loss; and can ensure data communication stays within a given territory. The Application Endpoint Discovery API returns ready-to-use application endpoints within the optimal edge zone(s) for a given end-user device, enabling immediate connection without additional discovery steps. This direct endpoint provision ensures developers can instantly integrate these endpoints into their applications. The following use cases are listed as examples:

  • Content Delivery: Optimizing content delivery by directing traffic to the nearest edge cloud zone.
  • Gaming: Game clients connect directly to the optimal game server endpoint, reducing latency and improving gameplay experience.
  • IoT Applications: Enhancing the performance of IoT devices by ensuring they connect to the nearest edge cloud zone.
  • Video Conferencing: Applications dynamically select media server endpoints based on participant locations for optimal call quality.
Benefits
  • Improved User Experience: Applications connect to the optimal endpoint automatically, resulting in lower latency and better performance for end users.
  • Simplified Development: Developers receive ready-to-use endpoints without needing to understand edge infrastructure or implement complex discovery logic.
  • Faster Time to Market: Direct endpoint discovery eliminates the need to build custom endpoint selection mechanisms, accelerating application deployment.
  • Data Sovereignty: Applications can ensure data stays within required geographical boundaries by connecting to appropriate regional endpoints.
