API Description
Use Cases
  • Emergency Services: Emergency applications can subscribe to receive notifications about the connectivity status of critical response team members. The API provider sends a notification whenever a device’s connectivity technology changes (e.g. from 4G to 2G, or 5G to 3G). This allows the system to dynamically adjust the communication method (e.g. SMS, voice call, video call) based on real-time changes in network type, ensuring that alerts are delivered despite potential connectivity issues.
  • Customer Support Platforms: A customer support centre may wish to place a video call to a traveller, but are aware that the experience is poor if the customer’s device is not connected to a high-speed network. By subscribing to device connectivity notifications, they can be alerted if connectivity status changes to 4G or 5G, and the video call can be made. This helps avoid failed communication attempts and improves customer experience by ensuring video calls are delivered using a reliable connection.
  • IoT Devices: A fleet management system can subscribe to real-time updates regarding the connectivity status of any IoT devices built-in to its vehicles. If a device’s connectivity status changes (e.g., from 5G to 4G or 2G), the system can adjust its monitoring strategy, reducing data usage or switching to SMS-based communication for low-connectivity situations.
